  • 2005 – Following the Bologna treaty the name of the faculty is changed and the B.A. programmes are reorganized into 3-year study programmes.
  • Starting with August 2005 the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports changes its name into the Faculty of Movement, Sports and Health Sciences. It was considered necessary to change the name of the faculty due to the following reasons:
    • the affiliation to the way of organizing the structure of higher educational institutions across Europe;
    • finding an integrative name which aimed at comprising all sections specific to their own domain;
    • creating new ways of development for the future by extending the sections and programmes specific to the domain, as well as assuring a certain degree of flexibility concerning the educational offer based on labour market demand and on the professional dynamics;
    • creating the necessary premises for starting other sections as a response to the national and European demand for the extension of the educational offer in interdisciplinary domains based on the inter-institutional collaborations.

The Faculty of Movement, Sports and Health Sciences of Bacău is one of the most important faculties for this specific domain in the country which in 2014 celebrated its 50-year anniversary of its inauguration.
